Our Ladies Boyfriend Merino Wool Cardigan is a versatile and timeless piece that will bring Irish heritage closer to your heart. Crafted from 100% Merino wool, this cardigan reflects Aran Woollen Mills' commitment to quality and sustainability. Ethically sourced from Merino sheep, this organic yarn offers a luxurious, durable, and eco-conscious choice.

Soft, breathable, resilient, and naturally wrinkle-free, this Merino cardigan is sure to pass the test of time in your wardrobe. The breathability and excellent moisture-wicking properties of this yarn make it suitable for year-round wear, as it will keep you dry during those cool summer evenings and will warm you up when the temperature drops in the chilly seasons.

The unique design of this cardigan showcases richly textured Aran cable, diamond, honeycomb, trellis and basket stitches, each telling an Irish story and adding to this piece's cultural identity. The cable stitch is a classic in Aran knitwear, resembling the fishermen's ropes – it is said that this stitch was originally knitted by local women as a wish for their husbands' safety during sea ventures in the Atlantic. Likewise, the basket stitch resembles the fishermen's baskets, and is a symbol of good luck and big catch. The diamond stitch is believed to resemble the fishing mesh, or net, used to secure and bring back a bountiful catch to the family, and it is seen as a representation of prosperity and triumph for the individual. The trellis stitch reflects the Aran Islands' natural beauty, with their dry stone-walled fields, and adds a blessing of protection to this garment. Lastly, the honeycomb stitch represents the diligent bees, their hard work and the sweet rewards of their labor.

Employing the Aran stitching technique, the cardigan provides optimal warmth without causing overheating in any weather condition. These stitches were initially crafted to enhance insulation for raw wool sweaters worn by Irish fishermen, ensuring breathability and heat insulation. At Aran Woollen Mills, each stitch is linked by hand using the same traditional technique. Designed as a relaxed-fit boyfriend cardigan, it features a classic crew neck and a full front opening with football buttons. This versatile piece can be effortlessly layered with other wardrobe favorites, offering flexibility and style for various occasions. For those wanting to embrace the cottage-core aesthetic, pair this beautiful cardigan with a floral skirt, a classic shirt, and a pair of vintage boots.

Crafted in Westport, Ireland, by Aran Woollen Mills, renowned for Irish craftsmanship and authenticity, this Ladies Boyfriend Merino Wool Cardigan makes for a unique and thoughtful gift that seamlessly blends fashion with tradition.

I love the sweater! It's light enough to wear it in Southern California and warm enough for New York City. I especially like the classic aran designs and the neutral color- I got the wicker color. The bottoms are made of polished wood and look perfect
