Our Celtic Cross Set of 2 Mugs feature rich jewel tone colors, intricate Celtic knot work, and are true masterpieces from our friends at Royal Tara. Taking center stage on each mug is the iconic Celtic Cross, each of which is accented by elaborate, flowing Celtic knot accents in lovely shades of crimson, deep blue, and verdant green. Around the top and bottom outside diameter of each mug, the knot work pattern continues, delicately weaving its way around the whole piece, and up the side of the large comfortable handle. The interior diameter of the mug also includes this same beautiful knot work, making the piece covered in wonderful elements pleasing to the eye no matter where it might fall. Also, stretching across the top of each mug is the phrase "The Celtic Cross," reminding those who hold it what kind of special Celtic symbol they have in their hands.

Each mug will hold approximately 325 ml (or 11 fluid ounces) of liquid, and is made entirely from bone china. The mugs ship together in a beautiful cardboard box and although they can be given individually to two lucky recipients, we think it would be wonderful to give them both together to a special friend or loved one you can share a sipping experience with. The Celtic Cross, as well as the Celtic knot, have stood as symbols of unity and love for many centuries, so they are perfect for including on these wonderfully made mugs, and we could not be more thrilled with Royal Tara's unique design to include here. Celtic Crosses have long served as a symbol of Ireland's Catholic past, but is believed by many to have roots stretching far back into ancient pagan times as well.

Many believe the circle sitting in the center of the cross serves as a symbol of the sun, and the interconnectedness of all life on earth. With the arrival of St. Patrick in 432 AD, many ancient Celtic designs began to be merged with newer Catholic ones, and the Celtic Cross is one such example. Since the medieval ages, the Celtic Cross has become one of Ireland and Scotland's most enduring symbols of love and friendship and is readily seen across the landscapes of both countries. The Celtic knot also serves as a symbol of eternal love, and has appeared extensively in illuminated manuscripts and other Celtic artwork for many generations. Both of these motifs come together to make a wonderful design that is as stunning and unique. The mugs are homey, comfortable, and are the perfect items to pair with some hot tea or coffee when catching up with an old friend or family member.

Headquartered in Galway, Royal Tara has served as one of Ireland's most well-renowned makers of fine china, gift ware, and related accessories for more than 50 years. Today the company's products are enjoyed in households across the globe, but each item the company ships has its humble roots in Royal Tara's workshop. Please do not delay in ordering your Celtic Cross Set of 2 Mugs as these items sell quickly and restocking can take some time!
