You will love the way this fisherman sweater makes you feel (both inside and out), and it also makes for a great gift for all sorts of special occasions!
Made of 100% Merino Wool
Why is Merino wool special? Merino wool, from Merino sheep, is an all-natural fiber. One sheep can grow up to four or five pounds of pure new wool in a year, which means that this material is also a naturally renewable resource. Merino wool fibers are naturally long, making for strong fibers and super soft yarn. Not only is it super soft, but it does not give you the itchiness that many people associate with wool. Because Merino wool has longer and finer fibers, it is more flexible than other types of wool, and moves easily with you rather than poking the skin uncomfortably (which results in the itchy sensation). This softer quality wool makes it a comfortable choice in all kinds of settings, and the perfect choice of material for this ultimate cozy sweater.
Aran Stitching
The pattern features traditional Aran cable and honeycomb patterns, inspired by generations of craftsmen from the Aran Islands in Galway Bay. Each stitch pattern carries a unique meaning rooted in the lives of the Aran fishermen and their families--the cable stitch featured in this Irish wool sweater is reminiscent of the fisherman’s ropes, and a wish for a fruitful and bountiful day on the sea. The honeycomb stitch, signifying the industrious honeybee, often represents a variety of different concepts, like the importance of hard work as well as good luck. In this sweater, both stitches combine in order to make an elegant pattern--each section works together with the others to create a unified piece. The different types of stitches complement one another, adding texture and dimension in a way that flatters everyone.
